Everyone is invited to come and be a part of the
Pet Blessing on Saturday, October 15, in the Garden.
This is the day Christians remember and celebrate the ministry of Saint Francis. We’ll gather at 10:00am and have refreshments for humans and pets. Following the blessing of the animals we’ll take a walk through the neighborhood as a way to be physically active and to show off our favorite, furry friends.
Please bring pets on leashes or in appropriate carriers.
We are delighted to welcome the two newest members of FCC: Bobbie Anderson and Bill Rogers. Both come to us from the Presbyterian tradition. Bobbie is married to Paul and taught middle school for almost 20 years. She is an avid reader and quilter who also sings and dances with a women's a cappella show chorus. She loves to travel and is also a Master Gardener. Bill has been retired from the English Department at Furman for about six years. He and his wife Cindy are the parents of two sons: Baxter and Freeman. Bill greatly appreciates the warm welcome he has received from the FCC family.
Written for and dedicated to the members
of Mother Emanuel AME Church of Charleston, SC, who in the face of great and unjust loss staunchly continue to live their faith.
Evil sought to rouse distrust,
Make brothers fight again a war of hate
Aimed at separating what faith would just
Negate with love. You chose to deflate
Unholy plans built on violent pain,
Extend your hands in peace again, and
Love the God who made all men.
